Mini Skill Bytes: increasing reuse w/out rebuilding content
A lightweight Learn vs Practice routing layer that turned an existing clinical content library into a repeatable, in-the-moment skill practice experience—using a chat-style UI pattern users already understand.
Context + insight
We had thousands of clinically reviewed skill modules in an Instagram-story format—great for learning, but often 1–3 views then drop-off.
The problem wasn’t the content; it was retrieval + reusability in the moment of need.
When users are activated, they don’t browse—they ask. Chat is the default “asking” interface.
The problem
Users rarely re-read psychoeducation when they were activated; they wanted fast, specific guidance.
The solution
Learn → routes to the existing story module (no content redesign)
Practice → routes to a chat flow where users type their situation and get a calm, structured response template (e.g., response frameworks + example language)
Efficiency + impact
High leverage: reused our existing library instead of reauthoring content
Scalable pattern: one interaction model applied across many skills
Outcome: increased repeat engagement by making content usable repeatedly as real situations came up
